In the summer of 2006, The Wars of 1812 came together in De Pere, Wisc. to write and record their first full-length record, Status Quo Ante Bellum. The quartet created a stylistically diverse album of personal songs, finding a sonic cohesiveness that draws on both the band's individual and collective influences. Status Quo Ante Bellum, translated to mean "as it was before the war," in the end, belies its own title, taking its listeners through an exciting battle of a sonic experience.
One part Wilco, one part Spoon, and one part harsh Wisconsin weather all combine to produce this warm winter quilt of a record. Lead singer and guitarist Peter Pisano's smiley yet sardonic vocals carry the album, as the band delicately pushes forward.
In 2oo7, Pisano, keyboard and vocalist Peter Rosewall, bassist and vocalist Mei-Ling Anderson, and drummer and vocalist Bobby Maher, relocated to St. Paul, Minn. where the group signed into a partnership with Amble Down Records and Afternoon Records to release their Status Quo Ante Bellum album. Fun and energetic, so bring your best Charlie Brown dance to the party and enjoy.
